About White Gables

White Gables is a spacious country lodge in Great Clifton, Cumbria, perfect for large groups of up to 12 guests. The accommodation is split across two levels. The upper ground floor houses two twin rooms, one king-size double and a double with en-suite shower room, plus two additional shower rooms. The lower ground floor features two twin bedrooms with TVs and a bathroom with roll-top bath. The heart of the house is the open-plan living area with comfortable seating, dining space and a fully-equipped kitchen.

We liked the property very much! It was great for a large group, lovely spacious living area with fantastic kitchen. Really appreciated the number of bathrooms, comfy beds and the outdoor space. Hosts v.welcoming and helpful with any queries. A couple of comments Only draw back in kitchen was lack of a sharp knife, but otherwise we couldn't have wished for anything, it was so generously equipped. Also, the couple of local paths that we tried to take as mentioned in the description were impassable, too many nettles, brambles etc Thankyou!
A wonderful property. Just perfect for our five couples and an eleven year old. The owner was really lovely and helpful.
We had a wonderful week at White Gables. On arrival the house was beautifully clean and well presented. White Gables was a relaxing home away from home. Well equipped with everything needed and more for a large group. Plenty of space in the loungedining room to accommodate everyone. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were immaculate. Outside areas were great. Cheryl was very friendly and helpful when contacted both before and during our stay. Sofas in the lounge and outside benches are a little tired but this did not detract from our experience of our stay. We have already recommended to family and friends. We would love to return for another family gathering. The area has so much to offer.

We went as a large family 9 of us and we all felt very comfortable in this lovely house. The kitchen is very well equipped but if there is anything else you require the owner is very willing to try and get it for you. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the large garden for playing and also a very nice outside sitting area. There was nice walks from the house down to the river and it was only about a 10 minute ride to the big supermarket. There is a very nice pub just at the end of the road. We would love to come back to this property in the future.

Amazing house which is really well equipped for a family get together. The layout is fantastic with the games room downstairs and fantastic garden for the kids. Brilliant having 4 bathrooms and a very spacious living area. Decorated beautifully and very comfortable. The outside spaces are great for gathering and having a bbq. We would definitely recommend.

Wow what a wonderful week we had! Cottage is immaculately clean, kitchen is very well stocked and all the bedrooms and bathrooms are superb. WiFi is very fast. Garden is huge and we had the good fortune to go when the weather was warm and sunny so could enjoy it! Pub next door was well worth a visit and there are multiple stores within a ten minute drive. Cottage is well situated near Keswick, Workington, Cockermouth etc. One thing worth mentioning is that the 2 televisions, while having free view, were not smart TVS no access to Netflix, Prime etc. I took a firestick with me so would recommend doing the same. Would highly recommend!!
Great cottage in an excellent location for exploring the Lake District by bike. There was plenty of room for a party of 9 and the hosts were very helpful. We hope to get back there sometime soon.

We an intergenerational family group of 9 had an absolutely super week staying at White Gables. The house is really impressive several times during the week one or other of us would comment on how perfect it was. It is very spacious with lovely, attractively decorated bedrooms, very well equipped kitchendining area and such a comfortable lounge area. It was so easy to just relax into the house from the beginning of our stay. It was lovely having seating outside the French windows as well as a large grassy area, which was ideal for football games! The house is decorated and furnished to a high standard I really liked the upcycled furniture in the double bedroom I was in and there were lots of attractive little touches that made the rooms more interesting and attractive. The lounge area had three long sofas with lots of cushions and some throws and was an ideal space in which to chill out and to play crazy games! There was ample parking and the directions we were sent beforehand were very helpful. We thought the house was in a great position off the beaten track but within easy reach of the Western Lakes, Cockermouth, Keswick etc. Cheryl was really helpful if we needed anything but never intrusive in any way. It was clear she and Colin have put lots of thought into making the house somewhere very special in which to stay and they have succeeded! We can't recommend it highly enough it's brilliant!

Highly recommend this cottage. It is beautifully decorated and there is a lot of space. Our kids especially liked the pool table and darts. The view from the lounge and garden is amazing. It was the perfect location to explore the Lakes and we recommend the Sunday roast at the local pub! We had a fantastic stay.
We loved staying at White Gables. It was really well set up for a group of 10 friends. We all had our own bed and the social diningsitting area was wonderful. Really nice kitchen and appreciated the 4 bathroom areas 1 ensuite. Great location for visiting the Lakes area generally. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed with family of 12 of mixed ages from 6months old, up to 70. Could not fault the accommodation, games room was used every day, and kitchen was lovely, with ample space for us to all eat our meals. Pub was literally 2 min walk away, and there was plenty of places to see in the surrounding area on the occasions that we ventured out. Would definitely recommend the cottage. Communication with the owner was excellent.
A really lovely, spacious house in an area ideal for walking and cycling. My group have stayed in numerous holiday lets in both Scotland and Yorkshire and we found that White Gables is one of the best we have been accommodated in. Although we didn't use it, there is a downstairs bunkroom with 2 beds lots of videos, books and a pool table.
Amazing weekend away! ! The photos for this house do not do it justice, it is huge!! Set in a beautiful quiet little village with a pub situated within a couple of minutes walk that serves lovely food, was ideal for our little break. The house is beautiful inside and was spotlessly clean. With a large garden at the rear, which we sat in to stargaze and a patio area leading off the living area, it was just perfect. I would highly recommend this property and we are already planning another visit next year. Communication has been excellent between Cheryl and myself and I just want to say a huge thank you for organising the return of my daughters make up bag, it is greatly appreciated.

Lovely house with comfy beds, plentiful bathrooms and all necessary kitchen accessories. Great location and excellent hotel with great food nearby! Wed booked a family holiday and took my elderly mum. Unfortunately, she found the settees in the lounge went too far back and were too low for her to get up from comfortably. Apart from this I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday home!

What a wonderful property. So much room, the house was so quiet too. We had a lovely time with a spread of ages. We had a fantastic few days at White Gables. The property is clean , spacious and fully equipped with all the facilities we required, with the added bonus of a games room. There is also plenty of parking space. The location is good ,very quiet with views across open fields. Great Clifton is a good location for exploring the Area and we would recommend The Old Ginn House pub and restaurant, a 5 minute walk from White Gables , the food is very good. Cheryl ,the owner of the property was very helpful and friendly and it was lovely to meet her. Overall we would highly recommend White Gables, we could not fault it and we hope to revisit again in the future.

Amazing property. Alot bigger than it looks on the photographs, very, very impressed. The space and facilities where 1010 couldnt ask for anymore. Plenty of towels, amazing kitchen facilities. The owner lives next door and is lovely. Would definately recommend, you won't be disappointed.

10 out of 10 White Gables was absolutely the perfect house for our group of twelve. It was a great place to celebrate my partners 50 birthday with family. Open plan lounge dining kitchen made it a fabulous area to socialise.House was very clean and everyone slept well. This property has 4 bathrooms which made things so much easier when getting ready. The queen room has a lovely view to open fields and was very peaceful. The games room was a great space to chill with DVDs and plenty of books to choose from. We would love to return in the summer months to make use of the outside space and BBQ. The local pub The Old Gin House is very close, I'd say less that two mins. We ate there and all our meals were marvellous. The hosts of White Gables are lovely and you feel nothing is to much trouble for them, they live nextdoor so were on hand, but in no way intrusive. There was nothing lacking whatsoever. Would recommend in a heartbeat . We enjoyed days out in St Bees, White Haven, loweswater Hayley and Family

White Gables is the perfect home from home , with absolutely everything you need for you're stay provided. The spacious games room was a great place for the children to occupy themselves , a bonus for the adults too !. The friendly owner's live next , door and are at hand for any questions, providing speedy responses . Our family stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my Birthday and it was absolutely perfect , im sure we will return , and will definitely be recomending it to our friends .
We had a lovely 3 night pre Christmas break with our children & Grandchildren. The property is beautiful, very comfortable and has everything you need. The location is good with it being close to Cockermouth, Keswick, Workington & Whitehaven and the local pubrestaurant The Old Ginn House Inn, is a 2 minute walk away. We wouldn't hesitate recommending White Gables to others & we will definately book again.

What a great holiday cottage. Ideal for a large group, extremely clean and well equipped, a real home from home. Great location within east reach of many of the Lakes. Would highly recommend White Gables and would not hesitate to come back again.
White Gables is absolutely fantastic. If you are looking for somewhere for a large group, this is definitely the place for you. Ample easy parking for at least six cars. Six excellent bedrooms including one which doubles as a large well equipped games room. Very comfortable beds. Beautifully made up rooms. Very handy storage room. Four bathrooms. Excellent large, spacious open plan livingdiningkitchen area with plentiful seating for everyone. Everything you could wish for in the kitchen. Spotlessly clean throughout. Cheryl was extremely helpful in answering my questions and helping with restaurant recommendations before our stay. And we knew that she was just next door if we had needed her during our stay which we didnt. All in all, a brilliant place to meet together with family or friends as there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space but also fantastic communal areas. Add to that its in The Lake District what more needs to be said!

Great house for a large family holiday. The host was brilliant, communicated well and there for any issues you may have. Lots of space inside and outside. Kids loved the downstairs games roombedroom. Good for public transport routes and there is a cracking pub virtually next door that did really nice food. Highly recommend.
