Old School Muncaster House Reviews

Norman
We loved the house, facilities and location. Great for kids huge garden with a tyre swing directly opposite Muncaster Castle which was a good rest day option when we werent climbing the hills. And of course easy access to some of the best hills in the Lakes. Great kitchen for catering for 18 with two dishwashers! I was impressed by Sykes out of hours service who deslt with a plumbing problem very promptly. We hope to return!
We loved it here. Lovely big house for us all to celebrate new year together. Lots of room in the living room, lovely comfy beds and a gorgeous part of the world to go on long walks in. Lovely, friendly neighbours too. Only negative was there wasnt enough wine and Prosecco glasses but thats a first world problem!
Really enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen and was well stocked with cups, plates, glasses and utensils, which was a concern ahead of arrival. Two dishwashers were also a welcomed discovery. Plenty of comfortable seating and we thought the bedrooms were comfortable and clean. In colder weather I would ensure that guests brought logs for the fire as the living area was a touch cold despite the heaters being on. The bedrooms were warm. Great location for the eskdale trail and a visit to Muncaster castle which were both thoroughly enjoyed. Cracking meal and drinks for a large group at The Inn at Ravenglass, which was walking distance. Will definitely be back next year to repeat a cracking long weekend.
A very spacious well presented property. Nice decor and good facilities. Very ample sized garden and patio area. Muncaster Castle across the road was an added bonus. We had a really nice stay. We would recommend though that the WiFi connection be considerably improved throughout the property if at all possible.

Our group enjoyed our stay at the property, the place was so comfortable and relaxing. our kids enjoyed playing in the garden area that was so spacious. The Location was superb walking distance to muncaster castle and train station. One of the bathroom shower stopped working while our friend was showering, the owner was informed but no one came to fix it.
Very nice and spacious but it could have been better to put provide soaps and towels Thanks

Glad of the opportunity to thank you for our lovely weekend in the charming, spacious schoolhouse, such a safe and interesting place for the wee ones, with access to the wonderful Castle just through the back gate. Everything just as described though I would have liked the opportunity to contact before to have questions answered, we took stuff that was provided.loo roll, dishwasher tablets, bin bags but not fuel for the wood burner though collecting kindling with the kids was fun. I would recommend staying here.

What a fab place to stay. Group of 18, for the grans 83rd birthday. Youngest person 24, and all ages inbetween. Plenty of room to relax, loads of bedrooms for all, great facilities, Internet hit and miss due to the number of people all trying to get on but, that's not important, we were there for a birthday party. Very warm once the heaters had kicked in and the wood burner was up and lit. Large enough kitchen to provide for all. And a dinner table that all were able to sit around at 1 sitting. Lovely grounds too, and ample parking. Description wasn't quite accurate, the place is better than the description. Would definitely stop here again. Only thing it needs, is an outdoor, metal ash bin for cleaning out the fire place.
