Latrigg House Reviews

We really enjoyed our stay at Latrigg House. It was a perfect place for two busy families with plenty of space for all eight of us, ensuite bathrooms in each bedroom and we really appreciated the offroad parking. The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped I particularly liked the pillows! The town centre is only five minutes' walk away with loads to see and do. Some brilliant walks up Skiddaw and around the shores of Derwent Water all easily accessible. Wifi was not very good at this property, which is fine if you want to get away from it all but tricky if you need to do a bit of work. I would happily stay here again. Don't include this in the review, but please let the owners know that the bathroom on the first floor left hand side is not draining the shower very well.
We had a wonderful stay at Latrigg House for our extended family New Years Break. The hosts had even decorated it for Christmas which was lovely and we received a very thoughtful welcome gift. The house was the perfect size for the 10 of us with plenty of space and every bedroom having an ensuite bathroom. It was very clean, well heated throughout and the large living room had plenty of blankets to cosy up and board games for fun family nights in. The kitchen had plenty of storage and space to cook and we enjoyed some big family mealtimes around the large dining table. Its in a great location with Keswick Town Centre and Fitz Park just around the corner. There is plenty of parking on the drive which is so useful as the side streets are busy. The only negative was no secure outside space for the dog. It is advertised as having a garden but is actually the front drive with a stable style gate which meant the dog had to be leashed at all times when letting out for toilet breaks. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Latrigg House and would highly recommend it to any large groups heading to the Lakes. We will definitely be back! The kids are already asking for it to be our New Years tradition.
Beautiful house in a great location for a large family celebration. Leaving a bottle of Prosecco and biscuits was a nice welcoming gift. Very much recommended. The only thing we felt would have been extra welcome were hand towels in each bathroom.
Latrigg House is perfect. Ideal location, off street parking for three cars. Plenty of plates and cutlery and a fully equipped kitchen, with two fridges ! The whole house is huge, with plenty of space for everyone.
Fab sized property in the centre of keswick for 3 families. Parking a bonus. Would stay again.
Elizabeth
Excellent property in very good position. Good facilities, comfortable accommodation. Having parking was a real bonus
Christine
My group had a very comfortable stay at Latrigg House. It was very convenient for town centre and parking was available. I would book it again if I was to return to Keswick. Home from home. Felt safe and secure in the house. Seagulls are noisy but thats unavoidable.
What a lovely property but could do with a proper deep clean.
Pros Very comfortable property, comfy beds, good quality towels, spacious and well equipped. Great facilities having a washing machine and drying area. Cons Blinds made alot of noise when leaving windows open for air at night. Pillows very thin. Window in front bedroom right side would not open, stuck open a little at the top.
Georgia
Fantastic house in the centre of Keswick short walk from a lovely new bakery and coffee shop. Lots of space for 10 adults with every room having their own en suite. Kitchen was great for hosting everyone for dinner only negative was that the dishwasher didnt work so had to clean all our plates. It was also full when we arrived so had to empty it and scrub those plates. Otherwise a lovely place and we thought it was great value for money split between 10.
Very clean property. Accurate description. Perfect location. No locks on the bathroom doors!! Knives in the kitchen are blunt!! TV in the kitchen not working.
Russell
Lovely place would love to go back again, and would recommend to anyone visiting the area
Jacqueline
Excellent property we really loved our stay Kitchen was very well stocked with ... Excellent property we really loved our stay Kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could possibly need, had fun getting the stove to work
Steven
We had a wonderful time at Latrigg house, excellent large bedrooms all with ensuite, good location for walking into town. Only slight negative was, we had a baby who we couldn't let out into the hallway in his walker because of the step down into the kitchen and the outside table probably needs some attention, apart from that everything was good.
Great property on suite in all bed rooms ,parking for 3 vehicles
Loved the house it was very warm and comfortable. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. Very well equipped too, we will return.
Hilary
We had a fantastic weekend in Latrigg House. Warm, spacious and comfortable with more than enough room for ten adults attending a family wedding.
Ramesh
The property while expensive was large, clean and had the facilities a large family requires. However, asking us to clean the place to a standard we found it is unacceptable. They have cleaners and we paid a lot of money. Only having access to the property on day 1 at 1600 and asking us to leave by 0900 on departure is unacceptable, when the standard is 1000am.
Dorothy
Very spacious house. Onsuites in all bedrooms were modern and spacious. Ample room in the lounge for our party of 8 adults and 2 dogs. Lovely big kitchen and large table, had everything we needed to enjoy our week away.
Ideal property for a larger party. An ensuite with every bedroom was very convenient and private off street parking a bonus. A very comfortable and well equipped house which we hope to book again in the future
Overall the accommodation met the needs of 8 adults. We could park 3 cars at the property. We have some minor points to note. The bed linen and towels were average. Bath sheets would have been better. The fitted sheets did not stay on the bed. Whilst cleaning at the end of our stay. The Henry hoover had to be partially emptied by hand because it had not been emptied for some time. This was rather an unpleasant task and a little discouraging to vacuum. Maybe the cleaners use there own equipment. We still think overall the accommodation is very good.
Gillian
An extra hand towel in each room would be nice. A hairdryer in each room also. Fantastic stay though.
Maggie
We had an amazing time as a family in Latrigg House. Such a comfortable space and excellent off road parking! Plenty of space cooking equipment facilities. To reach perfection for us there would have been a large bike shed outside to store bikes but I recognise this is not necessary for most people! Absolutely brilliant. Couldnt fault it.
Caroline
The house was really warm . ..kitchen facilities good. The front room layout wasn't great ..TV too far away for everyone to see. The wood burner was too small...we took logs with us and they wouldn't fit in the fire. All bedrooms being ensuite was a bonus although the one one the 1st floor needs updating.
A well appointed venue which met all the needs of our walking group, every bedroom being ensuite was appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped for feeding 10 guests. Modern appliances made cooking, dishwashing and laundry easy. The location in central Keswick with ample offroad parking was a bonus.
A lovely house for a large family stay and convenient for this part of the world. No major issues but the shower pressure on the top floor needs attention which resulted in people needing to take showers on the middle floor very inconvenient which is a shame. Hope this can be sorted as we would like to rebook.
Brigid
Lovely house, great location. Unfortunately the fridges froze all our salad and veg. We had not changed any settings. One of the showers wasn't working and the kettle wouldn't switch off. We have reported these issues to Sykes. But would recommend otherwise.
I had a comfortable stay at latrigg house . Not happy with the late check in n v early check out time though .
Lovely house with enough space for the 7 of us and 2 dogs. All bedrooms looked out onto skiddaw which was great. Our only issue, which is more probably to do with the letting company is the amount of jobs the guests are expected to do with a 9am checkout. 9am seems early to checkout when checkin isn't until 4pm
Samantha
Wonderful stay. The house was beautiful and spotlessly clean. I would definitely book this house again. I stayed with 7 other adults and there was plenty of room for us all.
Second time at the property, once again really enjoyed our stay, couple of minor issues, having 8 in the house and having to leave at 9am, now that Covid times are behind us should this be now 10am ? ? It would be a lot easier for us, also couldnt find a clothes maiden , this would have been useful having a baby with us, these are minor issues and we would highly recommend the property
Lynden
Latrigg house was the perfect place for a stay in Keswick for our family of 6 adults, 4 children and a baby and 2dogs. It was very comfortable, warm, clean and in an excellent location for accessing the town, lake and lovely walks without using the car. I acknowledge some of the negative comments from other reviews about no woodtools for log burner and bench seating at the dining table which was actually plenty big enough. These were minor issues though compared with the comfort of spacious bedrooms each with modern en suite facilities and comfortable seating for all in the living room. We definitely hope to return to Keswick as a family and stay in Latrigg house again.
Great cottage, central location. Good size for 4 adults, two dogs and two small kids.
Lovely property, ideally located close to the park and Keswick town centre. It would have been nice to have been able to switch on the central heating at 6 a.m. when we rise, as the house was quite cold. Sufficient hand wash, dishwasher tabs, laundry products and toilet paper would also be a welcome enhancement at c.200 per night. Overall, a lovely property.
There were several disappointing things about this property and some good ones. There was a bad smell from the drains in the bathrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors on the east side St Herberts Street side which didn't go away despite applications of bleach. There was poor water pressure to the top floor west side bathroom shower and the hot water to the bath in that bathroom didn't provide enough hot enough water to run a proper bath. The central heating and heated towel rails were not working properly to begin with and there were no instructions in the house to help us resolve this. The plumber came very quickly to help with this and also to fix a toilet which wasn't working and he explained that it is a 3 zone system with a thermostat on each floor, that the towel rails run off the heating system and not the hot water, so it's necessary to have the heating on to make the towel rails come on. The top floor radiators etc were not working because they needed bleeding, which we could have done ourselves had there been the appropriate tool. The house information folder was sparse not only was there nothing to help us with the heating, there were no instructions for some of the appliances, eg. the washing machine and tumble dryer. The towels were very skimpy, thin and poor quality. This had been mentioned in previous reviews but doesn't seem to have been addressed and indicates some lack of care for the finer details from the owner. There was little in the way of cleaning products supplied, apart from washing up liquid and dishwashing tablets the latter were not replenished at the end of our first of two weeks. There was no bathroomtoilet cleaner, nor proper cleaner for the ceramic hob which doesn't appear to have been cleaned properly for very long time. There were enough dishcloths and tea towels. There were only 4 dining chairs other seating for dining was benches which are not comfortable, presumably because the layout of the kitchendiner with the large central island made what was a fairly large space actually quite cramped and there wouldn't have been room. We're glad to see that the reference to the gorgeous patio in the description of the property on the website when we booked has been dropped it is a small space squeezed between the front of the house and the parking area and faces north. The automatic motion sensitive lights in the halllandings are a good idea for energy saving but they don't always come on in time to give light as you pass and as there's no way of overriding them to switch on lights it's potentially hazardous on the stairs. Good things the local rep responded as quickly as she could to our problems with the heating and plumbing and got the plumber to come immediately he mended the toilet on the spot and sorted out the heating. She also went out and bought 4 new antislip mats for the bathshowers and brought them round the same day. On another occasion the local rep brought round batteries for the TV remotes at our request. Location, location, location the house is very close to the centre of town Parking very good and rare for such a central location ample space for 3 cars, 4 if you're clever. 4 good sized bedrooms with ensuite. Plenty of hanging space, but no drawers for small itemsstuff you wouldn't normally hang up. Comfortable beds, though there should maybe be a question for potential guests about the suitability of feather duvets and pillows for anyone with allergies. TV in every room. Good WiFi. Overall, we enjoyed our stay we had excellent weather and the majority of our issues could be addressed with a little more care and attention to detail by the owner.
A comfortable house for a party of 6 adults and 4 children with a well equipped kitchen the free WiFi was very welcome also were the tv,s in all bedrooms. It's in an ideal position with only minutes walk into Keswick amenities and lake shore. The only downside was the lack of hair dryers we had to go out and buy 1 we thought there would be hair dryers it might be an idea to inform guests to bring their own. This didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the holiday and we have actually just booked again for next year
Had a great stay, house was clean and in a great locationonly a 5 minute walk to the town centre!
This was a great house for a Lake District holiday for eight of us. Two couples & 4 adult children. Very comfortable & wellplaced for walking into the fells, as well as pubsshopsrestaurants of Keswick. The house is well equipped & they have clearly paid attention to previous reviews & made improvements eg mattresses all appeared new & were comfortable, & there are now 2 cafetires! Every bedroom is ensuite & has ample wardrobe space. Theres parking space for 3 cars & a picnic table at the front. No grassy area unfortunately, but that would be icing on the cake. We had a lovely holiday here & I would thoroughly recommend it as a holiday house.
