Cloud End Reviews

Loretta
We all had a great time staying at cloud End the views are spectacular. It is a beautiful place to stay well situated to go exploring Lake District we enjoyed walking into Keswick. The family was up early climbing the mountains. The only problem was the bedroom opposite the utility was not very warm.We enjoyed playing the board games in the evening
This was the second time that we have visited Cloud End it is a lovely house, very well equipped and comfortable. The position is superb, and we were blessed with some stunning views. A couple of small niggles, which given the overall high standard of the property were a little disappointing No spare toilet roll was provided I noticed this on a previous review. I don't think it is too much to expect some to be provided. There is a coffee machine, but no pods again a small supply would be great, rather than having to buy some would be much appreciated I'm sure. Finally, it was unclear how the heating for the bathrooms worked some clearer instructions would have have been helpful.

This is the second time we have stayed and have absolutely loved it! The only area for improvement would be to leave more toilet roll, bin bags, washing up liquid, dish washer tabs and kitchen spray. With 8 guests these supplies ran out quickly and we had to purchase these supplies to keep the accommodation lovely and clean for our break not purchases I feel guests should be expected to make considering the price of the accommodation. Otherwise, loved our stay, really well equipped and so comfortable.
The property was excellent, everything that you could want for a family stay. Excellent position and views over Keswick to Bassenthwaite Lake.
Richard
In general we were very happy with our stay at Cloud End. The property was extremely well equipped. However there were a few issues which I would like to mention. The hot water for showers was erratic. Sometimes hot sometimes cold. The wifi in the downstairs bedrooms was poor. One of the slate tiles on the front steps is loose. My granddaughter slipped on it no injuries. The description of a 10 minute walk to town is understated. These comments are made with the intention of improving the stay for future visitors and only had a very small impact on our wonderful holiday.
Michael
The only negatives were a cracked wine glass and a couple of dirty plates probably due to previous guests. Everything else was absolutely first class. A lovely property with great views just away from the bustle of the town. Excellent
Neville
Wifi not fully working. Rebooted nodes, all OK. Front door lockkey very difficult. No pint glasses!. Some TV channels no signal.

Excellent house, wellpositioned above Keswick with easy access to other great places in the Lakes.
Once again this year we had an excellent week, all the facilities were as expected. As discussed with Sykes the only problem was when all the electric sockets went off on the first evening, causing us problems as fridge and freezer were full, due to an online delivery. Maintenance arrived and managed to reset the electrics within a couple of hours. The same thing happened later in the week but I managed to reset the electrics. This has been reported to both Sykes Cottages and also Lakes Cottages in Keswick. Apart from this it was an excellent stay.

Hi,the only serious issue with the propertyfacilities is the recycling. To not have separate bins for the foodglassplasticmetal is a joke. I appreciate it is listed as a business so the bin men will not collect as a residential property but you must take responsibility for the recycling. There is only 1 place in Keswick where you can recycle again crazy!
Andrew
4 of us stayed at Cloud End for 4 nights. We were very impressed with the property and would certainly recommend it to others. The views were spectacular and all the facilities at the house were excellent. If ever we return for another holiday in The Lakes we will certainly want to stay here again. The only tiny niggle was the 9am check out. We all felt 10am would be more appropriate, still giving 6 hours to prepare for the next checkin at 4pm.
This was the first time we had stayed at Cloud End and we werent disappointed. It was a lovely property with the bonus of the fabulous veranda and beautiful views. We will definitely stay there again.
Sheena
This property came up to our expectations and we had a most enjoyable week staying here. There were only two things I would like to comment on, the first being the heating which was high and didnt seem to respond to the room thermostats being turned down. The second is the checkout time. To be up and ready to go by 9 a.m. felt too early and rather as if we were being chucked out. I appreciate that the house needs to be cleaned but given that we were also asked to leave it clean, deal with the linen and tidy up we should have had more time. I would suggest that you let your tenants leave a little bit later considering that the cleaners have 7 hours to turn the property around.
We enjoyed very much eating out on the balcony and enjoying the magnificent views the kitchen being so incredibly wellappointed loads of mugs, crockery, cutlery, utensils, etc. We ate lunch and dinner in the house every day of our week's stay and valued the ease of doing so the roominess of the bedrooms the general comfort and also childfriendliness of the property.
The property provided the wow factor, on our entry into the living room the views just take your breath away. We found the property well appointed with everything that we needed for a weeks stay. All the rooms offered plenty of space for our needs, with the balcony seating area as an added bonus. The balcony furniture was excellent quality which was used until late in the evening on most nights as the weather was really kind to us. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone, every need was catered for. We would have no hesitation in returning in future years. Just an excellent property which truly enhanced our holiday.
Lovely stay in a truly amazing house with spectacular views. Lovely to come back to after a days mountain walking. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely property, spacious, well furnished, very well equipped kitchen, wonderful view. We had a memorable week. The DVD player struggled to play the DVD I brought from home, where it plays without issue. I suspect the DVD player might need a clean.
The main issue we had was with the outside furniture. We were unable to use the chairs so not able to eat at the table.2 duvets had 13.5 tog too heavy and warm There were a few cleaning issues and chipped dishes.
Property was spotless, well maintained and a pleasure to stay in. Not far from the town but not so close that it was passed by lots of traffic. Nothing bad to say about the property at all. One thing I would like to mention is that the patio furniture was in need of some care. A number of the chairs were broken in some way. This didn't cause us a problem but could be problematic for bigger parties as some of the chairs had broken backs or crucial fixtures that were coming loose. Could do with replacing as I think the weather has taken its toll on them. This in no way impacted our stay but I felt this should be mentioned so it can be addressed for future parties. I would recommend Cloud End to anyone looking for a place to stay that's close to Keswick and surrounding areas. Would definitely return here for future breaks!
Michael
This is a beautiful, well furnished home which had all the utensils, crockery and facilities required for selfcatering. The house sits on a hill above Keswick and the views from the balcony across Keswick and the surrounding hills are stunning. This was our first time at Cloud End but its a place well go back to.
Everything was great, the views are fantastic the house is spacious and well equipped, six adults and a child and infant stayed plenty of room. Location is good, twenty minute walk to town, if discovering the lakes by car then ideal as not always needing to drive through town. The only downside is the outdoor table and chairs, it is very weathered and some chairs falling to bits, although this would not put me off booking this house again.
Richard
Cloud End is extremely comfortable and enjoys exceptional views from the living room and balcony. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for cooking and storage. A lovely place to come back to each day. The living room and dining table would be a bit cramped for eight adults, but for the six of us, it was just right.
Cloud End is a delightful house, with excellent fixtures and fittings. The views over Keswick and surrounding hills from the patio are breathtaking. The kitchen is very well equipped, but a booklet about the Micro wave was really needed, as we thought it was a top oven! The cottage slept 8 but we felt 6 adults in the living area would be enough. The views from the massive picture window in the lounge area were fantastic. We really loved the house and hope to return in the future.
Alison
This is the third time we have stayed at Cloud End it feels like coming home as soon as enter the lounge and see the amazing view. We love sitting and watching the weather change over Keswick, Skiddaw and Latrigg. The house is very comfortable the bedrooms are very nice and the bathrooms too. The kitchen is kitted out to cook in which is quite rare in a holiday home. We love it and I think we will return next year for our 4th visit!
