Bowderstone Reviews

The location of and facilities at this properly are really good. We holiday with elderly relatives and their mobility is not great. The private parkingwheelchair ramps to rear and secure yard for our the dogs tick all the boxes. Weve Already booked again for this year and two bookings in for 2027. The only thing Id suggest could improve the property is better access to shower facilities for disabledelderly people. The downstairs bathroom has a bath which you need to step over and stand in to access the shower and no grab rails etc to hold on to. The upstairs bathroom has a lovely shower but again no grab rails and access to the shower is not the easiest for them given the location of the sink. Other than that it does everything we need

As regular visitors to Bowderstone, we love returning each year. The house is very handy for the town and the many local walks, and is warm, comfortable and well equipped. We'll be booking again for next year!
Charlie
Fantastic property in a great location. Off road parking a real bonus. 5 minute walk into the centre of Keswick. Layout of the property was perfect for three generations with great social areas but quiet areas when needed. Couldnt recommended more highly. Will definitely revisit.
Richard
Very comfortable, warm, well equipped dormer bungalow with lots of space for up to 8 people 4 bed rooms and important off road parking for minimum 2 cars, 5 mins walk from the market square. We never moved our cars for the week 12 term and used the excellent bus service, with X45 and 555 stop just around the corner. Couldn't fault it really.
House was lovely and clean but no bin liner in kitchen bin and none to use, and a few dishwasher tablets would have been nice we did leave some for the next guests. Bathroom sink blocked and not draining which had been reported previously in visitors book, but Im sure this will be addressed. Overall though a lovely property and well located for the town, although getting off the drive was somewhat difficult owing to parked cars on road , but of course understand not much can be done about this.
We had a great week at this lovely house. It is very comfortable and furnished to a high standard. We were a family of six adults and two dogs loads of space for us all and the utility room at the back of the house is perfect for dealing with mucky paws and dirty boots. Ideally situated for the town centre and a stone's throw from Fitz Park. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I see some other reviews mention parking being quite difficult at times. The street does get very busy even in January and entering and leaving the driveway can be very tricky. But having said that we did manage to squeeze in 3 estate cars so not a big issue for us. Worth noting the driveway to the side of the property must be left clear for the neighbours we didn't realise that until we checked in.
The property is in a perfect location. The accommodation was equipped very well & we had everything we could possibly need during our stay. Because there was just the two of us & our frenchie we only used the downstairs area. The under floor heating in the downstairs area was lovely as it was during the Christmas new year period & very cold. The property does have enough parking at the front of the property but we have a ford ranger & getting out of this area proved to be an issue due to other drivers on road parking too close to the drive & opposite the drive. Luckily we only went out one day & with difficulty got off the drive. So on our return parked on road so we could travel home without any issues. Even so we love Keswick & the property is amazing we would definitely come again!
Brilliant place to stay . Its like a home from home .everything you need is in the accommodation , off road parking close to town centre , what more can you want !
Justine
Absolutely wonderful property. The house has everything needed and more with the added bonuses of an enclosed gardenyard ideal for our dogs, and just a few mins walk to Fitz Park and a couple more to Keswick town centre. We will definitely be back Im already looking for dates for next year.
Jennifer
We love this property,in the 40 yrs we have stayed at Keswick this is by far the best property . Its home from home .You want for nothing as every thing you need is there for you supplied by owners .The property is so well maintained and so clean ,the bedding is first class .they havent supplied cheap bedding .i could go on and on but wont bore you
Angela
A lovely property in a great location for Fitz park. Kitchen has everything you need lounge is lovely and comfortable. We found the beds a little firm even with the mattress toppers on but that is personal choice. Not the best weather for our week so struggled doing a towel change as no tumble dryer easily rectified by taking a couple ourselves next time . This is a comfortable and well maintained property a credit to its owners . Been coming to Keswick for over 10 years and this is in our favourite list of rentals
Excellent property in a great location. Disability friendly and close to everything we needed. Have already booked it again for next year.
Absolutely gorgeous property and was so well equipped TV in every room went down well, and the kitchen had everything we could ever want. Perfectly located for a short walk into Keswick and Fitz park within 50m ideal for dog owners. Having private parking spaces was great.
Stuart
Lovely property, spacious and clean and well maintained. Close to Keswick centre but still quiet. We have stayed before and love the place so will be back again
Jennifer
We as a family have stayed at many places in Keswick over last 40 years but this has to be the best . Parking on site ,the house is amazing .It is a beautiful very well kept house .There is nothing they have not provided .This is our second time of staying there and have booked for two more dates next year .To whoever owns Bowderstone you have thought of everything to make peoples stay a holiday to remember .Thank you so much .
Great house, and great facilities. It's the second time we've stayed and we loved it. However, we were slightly disappointed by the dismissiveness of the man sent to repair the shower drain. The upstairs shower wasn't draining correctly, to the point where it nearly flowed over the top of the base. It was only usable by one or two people in the morning. He came, plunged it for 30 seconds and said that had fixed it and said these showers are designed to drain slower than regular showers because of their plug design I understand this, but it was definitely not normal. Alas, it wasn't fixed and the next day we had the same problem. If he'd have stayed 2 more minutes and actually checked the shower he'd have known that. Shame!
Nicola
We loved the property and had a great time there. Tastefully decorated and well equipped especially in the kitchen which makes life so much easier. Beds were very comfortable too. The hose outside probably needs attention as it seems to leak at the top and reduces pressure considerably which was difficult when washing the dogs down but thats a small matter. Only difficulty we had was exiting from the driveway. We have an estate car which is very long and because of the parking on the road outside it was extremely difficult to manoeuvre. I think it would be worth noting that in the description.
Jenifer
The house was beautifully presented, very comfortable, well kitted out and spacious. It's in an excellent location. With 7 people the heated towel rails, the alternate sitting area and outside space were all well used. We loved the house and will be booking again for next year
5 property! Everything you need and more. Spacious and comfortable. Excellent location in Keswick, off street parking for three cars, kitchen extremely well kitted out with utensils, washing machine came in very handy after hot, boggy walks! No detail has been missed here, even had a good selection of books, board games and jigsaws! I had the absolute best time in Keswick with Bowderstone as our base, sad to come home.
A wonderful place to stay. Surpassed all expectations when we arrived Spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated Had everything we needed for our large family group .8 adults, 2 babies and a dog The downstairs living area flows well. Relaxing seating in the lounge, large well equipped kitchen and useful utilityback lobby great for buggies, boots and outdoor gear We had 4 cars which we managed to park at the propertywhich was a great bonus Great location.so close to Fitz Park .great for walks with the buggies and dogand superb mountain views We would definitely book again and recommend it to others
Elizabeth
Love Bowderstone we've been several times before and it's always great to come back. We'll be booking again for 2025!
Amazing to spend Christmas here. The property was thoughtfully decorated and came with a tree . Beds are comfortable with good quality bedding . Kitchen is well equipped and the downstairs space flows well for Families. Upstairs seating area a great solace space . Parking is a bonus and was a bit tight with our long car but we managed and better than searching for a space . We are trying to find another date to come back !
We have had an amazing holiday at the Bowderstone The property exceeded our expectations In terms of space and comfort. Its situation suited us so well being near to the park, as we had the pooches with us. We loved it so much we have booked again for next summer!
Jennifer
We saw this property while staying at a holiday property just around the corner last year ,It was priced 1600 were were were staying in a 3100 property which was dreadful . We walked round the corner and liked what we saw ,read up on it and booked it immediately for this year .Wow what a fabulous uprise when we actually went there last week .It is the most lovely house .There is nothing but praise for the owners .They have furnished it perfectly ,Tv,s that actually work in every room ,a fab seating area upstairs were the husband would go and read the paper in peace .I wanted to take this home back to my place ,I sat in the lounge and just thought ,I need to revamp my home now .We booked within a couple of days to stay next year .Sorry for going on but its the nicest place we have stayed in in near 40yrs going to Keswick at our affordable price . Major problem for car owners has been parkingpermits ,were could get 3cars on the path comfortably without blocking the side path .
Fabulous place to stay. We were expecting it to be good but it surpassed our expectations. Great location. Room for 3 cars.
Dorothy
Fabulous cottage, spotlessly clean, great location, modern and comfortable loved everything about this cottage would love to return in the future. Also the weather was a great plus .
Hannah
This was a fantastic place for us to stay. Very close to the beautiful park for our Grandparents to wander around and excellent access to walks close by for the rest of the family. The accommodation was very clean and very well equipped with all that was needed for our week long stay. Only downside to the property was the access to the driveway and the limited space to be able to get in and out based on the cars parking on the road and over the marked lines. The actual space for parking is more than ample for three cars, when you can navigate your way onto the drive. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
Rachel
Great property, had a fantastic stay. Very comfortable house with plenty of space for us all 6 adults. Everything we needed in the kitchen which was great as we did lots of cooking. Comfy bedrooms with lots of space for all our stuff. Great to have a utility room for all our outdoor gear. High quality furnishings and appliances. Very clean too. Great location in central Keswick for exploring the hills and lakes lots of lovely restaurants and bars in Keswick. Thank you for a lovely stay. Would stay again.
Wonderful home from home will be back!
This is our second visit to the property, the first being in 2018. I was pleased to see additional seating in the living room allowing plenty of options for our family to sit on. The kitchen is a real delight, quality appliances and a good range of cookware and crockery. We appreciated having dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll and foil as these are things some properties do not provide. As a family group of 6, we appreciated having the space to spread out in the property and a dining room to enjoy our meals together. The jigsaw puzzles and games provided fun on the occasional wet days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bowderstone and would have no hesitation in recommending the property to others. Thank you to the owners for providing a very comfortable, well appointed house.
Excellent accomodation! First class layout and facilities with excellent quality fixtures and fittings. Great location for all local amenities. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend!
Jackie
Lovely bungalow which was well presented and fully equipped. Plenty of space which was needed with it being a party of 8. Parking for 3 cars an added bonus in Keswick. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Slight negative is that there wasnt a welcome hamper only a small carton of milk, however it did not detract from our stay.
We loved the property and our only real negative is the late check in time of 4pm. It seems you miss out on the 1st day of your holiday!
Hannah
Fantastic house
We absolutely love staying in this property, this is our 5th time! Spacious, comfortable and well equipped its the perfect base for a stay in Keswick. The garden and lovely patio furniture is the icing on the cake! The owner has thought of everything! Thank you
Very well equipped and comfortable, lots of space inside, great to have a bathroom and bedrooms on both floors. Driveway to park the cars on a big plus. 5 min walk to central Keswick. Would definitely book again.
Steven
Bowderstone was a wonderful home to spend a week in. Very well equipped and comfortable. So much room, ourselves, children and their partners could spread out. The garden was also lovely, and outdoor space to sit in was a real bonus. As was the drive to park 3 cars on. I don't think we've ever stayed anywhere with so many televisions! Would definitely book again for a family holiday.
Andrew
We really liked the property and would be happy to stay there again andor recommend to friends. Manoeuvring a longer vehicle in and out of the front parking area was a challenge, but onstreet parking was usually available close by.
